What is the purpose of life?
When I say "purpose", I think of an actual function. For instance, a person may make a house, or a car or a book. The purpose for those things are clear: they were made to live in or transport something or read.
But what about humans? What did God make us for? What is our purpose?
Since we are made in God's image (Ge 1:27), it helps me to understand His relationship with us by comparing it to our relationships with our children.
So what is the purpose of us having children?
Many of us have an overwhelming desire to have children. Why? Everyone may have their own reasons, but I believe that the general reason is that children enhance our lives because we find tremendous delight participating in the miracle of creating and giving life to other human beings and to teach them all that we have learned. Similarly, I believe that God has this same delight:
"Everything that Jehovah delighted [to do] he has done, In the heavens and in the earth." (Ps. 135:6)
